Exciting news for this week at The Refuge. We have been praying and seeking God for ways to turn what the devil intends for harm into something positive and here is what we have come up with so far!
1. Tomorrow at 11:00 am tune into The Refuge Facebook page for our very first live stream church service. We plan to have a time of worship and time in the word very much like our normal Sunday morning service except you can stay in your PJ’s. 🙂
This will be our first attempt at this so give us grace if we have technical issues.
2. This Thursday night from 6:00-8:00 pm we will have a time of prayer and worship at the church office.
401 S. 19th. We have room for about 20 people so first come first serve.
3. We will be offering limited child care at the church office this week for those parents who can’t get time off work while their kids are out of school.
4. We are putting together care boxes for our most vulnerable community members.
5. We are putting together a team to offer shopping and errand running for those who need to avoid person to person contact during this time.
6. Dig in Junior high ministry will be meeting on Wednesday night for some fun and time in the word.
Join us for church tomorrow live on Facebook! Come expecting and invite a friend to join as well. This is the time for us to rise and shine!!
As I am pondering and praying about how inconvenient this virus is. It is disrupting my comfort, disrupting my rhythm, and generally just messing up my plans. But then I was struck with the idea of what an opportunity this presents the church. We get to be unselfish, sacrifice, love, and care for our community in ways never before possible.
I am genuinely excited at the possibilities these next few weeks will offer. We get to show our community God’s love in new and creative ways.
Stay tuned for some exciting news from The Refuge coming out tomorrow. Stay expecting, invite a friend, there is more than one way to be the church!!
We were just notified that all school facilities are closed for public use for the next two weeks. Unfortunately this means we will need to cancel church until they open again. We are working on a plan to do some type of live stream or video service and will keep you posted as we work out details. We are also considering opening the church office for small group type meetings and prayer/worship times. Today our primary focus is on being a help to our community and those most effected. We are working with the public schools to assess and meet the needs of our community. At this time they are requesting the following items:
We would also like to ask you to please continue your regular church giving as we will continue to do the work we are called to, and expenses will continue. You can give online at Therefugephilomath.org or mail your gift to PO Box 122, Philomath, OR 97370.
If you have any needs or prayer requests don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We will keep you posted as things develop.
God is good all the time!
Hey Refuge family,
I thought I would send out a quick note regarding my thoughts concerning the Coronavirus and how I see us dealing with it as a church family.
First off, we want to use wisdom and common sense. With that being said, we will be extra vigilant to wash our hands, sanitize all church equipment before and after service, and stay home if we are sick or in a high risk group.
Second, and most important to me, we are no longer slaves to fear! We serve a big God who promises to protect us and heal us. Sunday church service is vital to building our faith and staying strong during challenging times. It is where we lift up the name of Jesus above every other name, where we encourage one another and celebrate the strength and goodness of our God! So... at this time we plan to continue all regularly scheduled church events, and will let you know if this changes.
Things to consider:
A word about isolation:
Isolation is not good for us emotionally or spiritually and there are ways we can stay connected even if we can’t be in the same room together.
We love you all and are very excited to worship with you this Sunday and every Sunday until His return. I would encourage you all to read the Psalm 91 - speak it out loud, memorize it, and claim it as your promise.
We are no longer slaves to fear, God is good all the time.
